It is always a good idea to research all of the common metals that are typically used for wedding bands – platinum, palladium, gold, tungsten and titanium – BEFORE you begin the shopping process. After all, an educated consumer is the jewelry industry’s best customer.

Platinum is the superior metal that is the most expensive, but it is naturally white and does not lose much mass when it is scratched. In fact, you can refinish a platinum wedding band over and over. Gold is the only choice if you are looking for a yellow metal. Palladium is the better choice over white gold if platinum is not an option. It is much less expensive as well. Tungsten and titanium wedding bands look sleek, but neither metal can be sized, so don’t gain or lose much weight.
